Education & Vocational Upskilling

In some Cambodian communities, the importance of education is not fully realised. Children follow their parents into the status quos of rice farming, building or begging that have been the only vocational options for generations gone by. As families scarcely have capital beyond their own vegetable garden, opportunity to diversify their skillsets has been rare until now. By addressing this need community members can expand their capacity for independent work and benefit from improved incomes for years to come. There are three parts to this project:

  1. Education programs: Topics include English, hygiene, tolerance, creativity and literature. They are designed to help ‘fill the gaps’ in the public education system. Education programs range from preschool activities to university scholarships.
  2. Community Support: Practical assistance and financial support engages the community through microfinance, job skills workshops, child protection workshops and family farm activities.
  3. Vocational Training: Sewing is a valuable skill offered to men and women which they can then use to generate an income. Further plans to expand into painting are in the making.
